Police visit

On the 16 of November we had two police officers come in and talk to all of TK house. They talked about what there jobs are in the police force and the jobs of others. The main four jobs they talked about were.
- Criminal Investigation Branch ( CIB )
                                               - Scene of Crime Officer ( SOCO )
                                               - Environmental Science & Research ( ESR )
                                               - Electronic Crime Lab ( ECL )

They talked a lot about ESR and how there job is to help understand things like :
  • DNA - Where they are finding samples of the root of hair, blood, clothes, saliva- sneezing, drink food, bite, even cigarette butts.
  • FIREARM- They work out the trajectory, work out the direction of the bullet where is came from and finding out where the gun came from - which Country or  store.
  • PHYSICAL IMPRESSIONS - Foot wear impressions, tool marks, fibers / paint, glass a and tire tracks.
  • BLOOD PATTERNS- Where the offender attacked, the distance between them and the victim, what weapon was used.
  • LUMINOL - Helps to see where the blood is even if the criminal tries to clean it up.
  • DRUGS / ALCOHOL- Blood alcohol levels, determining it is a drug, toxicology - victims or offenders.

After that we went through a Police Crime Scenario where there was a mystery. Up on the projector it would show pictures and videos, we would then have to write down things that we thought could be clues. At the end we had to figure out who it was and if we could arrest them or not.

Here are some photos:
