What makes a good friend

Everyone needs someone they can count on to encourage them and to make them happy when they are sad. Those qualities are what you look for in a good friend.

It is immensely important that you are encouraging and supportive. You need to tell your friends to keep going and not to give up. Friends have to back you up and support  you in what you do, but they have to stop you if you are doing something bad or wrong ,not to just let you carry on. Also they can never laugh at you, only with you.

If you are upset then they would have to come and put a smile on our face and make you laugh. Your friends shouldn't just sit by and watch you be unhappy they need to do something because that is what friends are for.

A good friend should always be helpful, to be there to help you when you are stuck, if it is just from borrowing their pencil or giving you help with some work.

Or they tell you if there is something in your teeth or on your shirt because they are being helpful and telling you things that you didn't notice.

You also need to know that you can trust each other, to be able to keep each others

secrets. If you have trust in each other then it is a good friendship.

To know that you can trust each other means that you can lend your friend something and you can trust that they will return it to you and will not lose or break it.

Now you understand what makes a good friend you understand that you need to be encouraging, helpful and that you can trust each other to be supportive and kind.  These are the qualities of good friend.
