camp

On Wednesday of 12 / 3 /2015 Rooms 13 and room 15 went to Weka Point camp. We were there        until Friday and it was a lot of fun. We did a lot of challenges and activities like mud slide, flying        fox, raft building and riding, archery, orienteering and my list is endless. Here are some pictures         with a caption from camp.

This photo is of my group going rafting. We had to make our raft from blow-up tyres then tie them together with the knots we had learnt.  Those knots were a figure of eight and a double hitch knot. We were in groups of 4 so we needed enough tyres for four of us. My group made our raft with three tyres, two small and one big. We made it in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head. We then had to carry them down to the river and we set off.

In this photo we were getting into  out kayaking groups.  I was with Rebecca and Sophie. We practiced kayaking with our paddles.  After that we took our boats down to the water and set off. We paddled around following the leader for a bit. Then we played fruit salad where we are all a different fruit. There was a apple, pear, mango and  orange. The leader would call out one of the fruits and those people would have to stand up and swap with another one of those fruits.  While everyone was walking across the canoes the other people would have to hold onto the boats so they did not separate.  Then once everyone was all mixed up we all had to go back to our original boat.  We did a few other activities in our canoes then we went to get dry and changed.

Those were just a few of the activities that we did.

  2. It looks like fun Eva, and funny idea about the raft looking like Mickey Mouse! (mum)
